Zoe is asleep ... went to bed one last time as a seven-year-old. OMG. I stayed up to make an 11 X 17 chocolate cake with chocolate frosting covered in rainbow sprinkles (Aussies call them "hundreds and thousands).
Dear parents of CPS class 1/2R: I sincerely apologise for the diabetic coma your child lapsed into after lunch on Friday ...
This is the first time ever Zoe has wanted birthday treats at school ... because it is the first time her birthday has been on a school day. (Last year it was on a Saturday. Prior years it was in summer.) Whenever I proposed bringing in cupcakes on a different day to celebrate her birthday she would look at me as if I was nuts. She is kind of superstitious about her birthday and celebrating on different days has never sat well with her. She'll deal with having her party the weekend after ... but that is where she draws the line. Also, no one is allowed to sing. This is what happens. Hopefully there will be no spontaneous singing tomorrow and thus no bursting into tears. Her party will be Saturday: 9 second-graders to a movie (Marmaduke) then TGIFridays. God help me.
