I am not normally a crafty mom. While Kid always has access to a treasure trove of markers, stickers, stamps & crayons, I rarely pull out the play-doh ... I just don't think of it. And even less often do I set her up with paints. I figure she gets to do all kinds of messy art projects and crafty stuff at school. But. Yesterday I was cleaning out some cabinets in the basement and found a cache of those little single-serving cereal boxes (no, I haven't a clue where they came from or why) - including a box of Froot Loops. (I had to look that up - it really is "OO" not "UI" ... well duh, there is not actual fruit in them ... ). Kid had just asked me for the thousandth time if she could watch a movie and I firmly told her "no, you've already spent too much time this weekend sitting staring glassy eyed at Barney in the cat pee stinky dark basement that is our TV room ... " Then a light bulb went on over my head. I proceeded to set her up with the Loops, a piece of yarn and a big fat dull darning needle. She expeditiously strung herself what I thought was a four foot long necklace. (Those little boxes hold a LOT of Loops!) But she balked when I tried to tie it around her neck. It wasn't a necklace - it was a snack. She held one end in each hand and munched her way through the whole thing.
